The beginning

Ramshacklicious was co-founded in the summer of 2006 by siblings Jack Splats and Holly Stoppit. They both had a hunger to create theatre for the street that took risks, featuring fully fleshed-out characters, complex narrative arcs and an edge of anarchy, interesting street theatre that respects the intelligence of it's audience.

With their long history of performing together in their dad's circus (Arts Play Umbrella) and in various music, circus and theatre projects, it seemed to be the most logical step to form a company that would showcase all of their shared skills and help them develop new ones.

So we gathered together an amazing team of theatre artists and made 'The Road To Nowhere', a show about family, love and death. This show toured the UK and Ireland for 2 fantastic summers.

...The next bit

In 2009 Ramshacklicious disappeared into a room together with even more incredible theatre artists to develop our skills and ideas of how to incorporate more puppetry, music, new writing and interactive set design into our shows. This R&D planted the seeds of ‘The Small Time’ - a vaudeville show on a tricycle. This show was created in 2010 and toured for three summers.

In 2011, alongside touring ‘The Small Time’, Ramshacklicious began to lay down the foundations for their first mid scale production 'Grime'. In 2012, the company was getting busier, creating and touring another new show, 'FinkSoup'. This was to be their first foray into non-verbal storytelling and their first fully amplified show. Ramshacklicious had gone electric!

In 2012, we also continued researching and developing 'Grime', collaborating with a huge pool of talented artists, we tore apart our original ideas, found some new ones and stuck them all back together, discovering that we had the makings of an unbelievably epic show, now we just needed to find the money to make it.

...The bit after

In 2013, Ramshacklicious created and toured their 4th show, 'The Sad Band Experience   Grime', a collection of tragic tales, combining storytelling, dark clown and original live music. 'FinkSoup' also continued to tour. We continued building momentum for ‘Grime’, attending a residency at Le Fourneau Creation Centre in France to learn about the world of French Street Theatre.

In 2014 we finally got the funding to create and tour ‘Grime’!!! We created the show in residence at Artelier 231 Creation Centre, France. During this residency, Ramshacklicious also stretched its brand new Community wing by running tie-in drama workshops for a group of patients from the Lucien Bonnafé day hospital of the Rouvray hospital centre.

In 2014 we also continued to tour 'FinkSoup' alongside delivering two more community projects. T.W.I.Ts (The Winchester Institution for Toffs) – Working with students from Winchesters Uni's street Arts Degree to create a 'local' response to the burger van. And The Whizz bangs – Working with 6th form students in Christchurch, Dorset to recreate/re imagine the concerts that we're put on by a group of recuperating servicemen during the First World War.
