| Ed
Hicks is a banjo player, songster, irreverent folk-activist and performer.
He has toured the country as Sleepy Ed Hicks, a self-styled itinerant troubadour,
bringing the joys of Appalachian dance music and his surreal parodies to
audiences young and old. He has also played in a Klezmer brass band in a
Belgian Circus, sung "I can't give you anything but love" in every
bar between Paris and Athens for a Dixieland swing trio, worked with folk
song collector Peter Kennedy, taught banjo to a Daily Mail journalist, a
City broker, an anarchist and a former rag and bone man, studied clown with
Fraser Hooper and recently taught himself the fiddle mostly whilst sitting
next to rivers. As well as his solo projects, Ed is currently a member of
the Honk project (musical clown troop), Ramshacklicious, Eel and Toe (cockney
music hall band) and has ambitions to dress up as a rabbi. Ed has never
slept in an Italian building site! |
